DOWNTIME

As a matter of fact, hosting a site like this takes money, actually quite a bit. Sometimes one has to look for cheaper hosts.

Sorry, this came without warning, but since nobody contacted me I can safely assume the site wasn't missed that much.

Anyways, the site is back.

Hey! I did notice and I was confused then I was at work plus I was checking every hour but the site was still down. I wanted to contact but I waited till I get home.Then I found it up and kicking I thought well no need to contact to you.

Ok now I wanna to know what happened?

i did indeed miss the site as well! i just figured with the crazy weather everywhere that there was a power outage or something interrupting the server. what really happened?

Well, I had to change the hosting package, and the guy who was supposed to bring the site online again, kinda forgot it. This way we had more than 12 hours downtime. It wouldn't have mattered if anyone had tried to contact me, since I wasn't at home anyway. But it kinda surprised me that no one tried.

I sen you a message on yahoo about it when I realized it didn't seem like a temporary thing. Also, there was a message on Oralfxtn asking if anyone else noticed the site was down. Contact info for me and you was given out. People were concerned.

Ive hosted my own site before and downtime is just part of the deal. Sometimes they take servers off line for a variety of reasons and sometimes you need to do a little revamp of your own. I don't usually ask downtime questions unless the site has been down for 48 hours or more and no notice was given. *Shrugs* It happens. Im sure everyone understands that

I worked until late lastnight and then had to be up super early so I only tried to log on for a little bit. I thought it was just a maintenence thing.

Believe me, the site is definitely noticed and missed. I'm now glad I wasn't around for too long yesterday. I really would have been freaking.

I was panicking for a moment there---Praying that TM was just putting up the custom banner for the holiday season--WHICH BTW YOU NEED TO DO AHEM!!!

but then when it came back up my worries were calmed--least now I know what the sitch was---dont do that to me again!

A few people wrote emails regarding the site being down sometimes during last week. I couldn't really do something about it since I was in hospital and had surgery. I will spare you the details but I'm better now.

If you still have severe problems just post a reply to this thread and I will look into it. Applications may take some time.

I took care of the author applications so we should be up to date. Hopefully you're doing all right again TM.

Most importantly Im glad YOU'RE UP!!!!! Hope all is now fixed etc. Take care and milk the time off work for all it's worth!!!!!

I assumed the problem was on my end since I was using my Droid to go on the site. My point being, I love this site so much I check it on my phone when I'm away from my computer! I checked several times a day and didn't want to bug anyone, certain someone was working very hard to fix the problem.
Thanks for all your hard work maintaining this website. I would miss it terribly if it went away.

I was away for a while, (about two months to my shame, was off in other fandoms for a little bit, had to update a fic from there) and I came back and saw the site gone and panicked. I didn't have anybody's email (well other than Electra and Dylan) and my mind was not co-operating so I certainly didn't think about contacting them or any other site. I just hoped and prayed that it would return soon. Believe me, we all missed this place. I was hoping that you have the wayback machine allowed to bot this site...

While I'm thrilled the site's back up, I'm more relieved that you're okay.
We can't have the great TM out of action. I think that's a law or something.

I noticed but mobile log in is hard for some reason, so when i tried to get on from my phone is didn't work. glad everything is back and running ;D

We're moving to a different server, so the site won't be available for approximately one day starting saturday 04.09.2010 around 12 am GMT.

Ok, this is a bit of a nightmare.

Our hoster apparently had some stupid hardware issue resulting in the total loss of our data since the server move or the 03. September 10. It just so happens that the backup wasn't working either.



Members registered during the last month have to register again.

Any new authors that were processed during the last month need to file a new application.

Every fanfiction created during the last month has to be recreated.

Every chapter uploaded during the last month has to be re-uploaded.

Reviews and Forum posts are obviously lost.


I am sorry for the inconveniences but there's nothing I can do for now.

I am so glad the site is up and running again! Thank you for keeping us updated as to what happened... it wasn't a blast re-uploading things but as long as the site is back up and running I don't mind it

Clearly there was nothing you could do and you did nothing wrong. I am just glad its back up and I am sorry for your stress. You need a support group of willing participants to help you out and maybe a way for people to donate $$. We should all help out.
If you can, be honest with the forum and break down what your costs are. You may be surprised who comes forward to help out.
I'm not really sure what the etiquette is in these matters but seems reasonable to me...
